Well where do I begin??
It was a rather cold Sunday morning in March of this year 2008, i made my way rather nervously to meet up with Tink (instructor) and his lovely wife Ali to travel to the pool in Dory the ever trustworthy campervan of which I would have many journeys in.
We arrived at the pool where we met up with others, two of whom would be my fellow Divemaster Trainees, Justine and Simon. We chatted about what was ??? going to happen that morning. We all completed our swims, floating and treading water successfully. More was to follow the following week again transported by Dory to complete our snorkelling and the start of learning how to demonstrate the 20 skills.
We would meet up regularly at Tink and Ali's for course work and the ever dreaded exams. (God I hated them!!) Padi (the dive dog) would regularly keep us company helping us to demolish the biscuits.
The Open Water part of our course followed shortly and it was great watching and experiencing the joy of the Open Water Students when they entered the water for the first time and chatted non stop about what they had seen underwater. This for me has been the best part of the Divemaster Course, meeting new nervous students, going through the pool training with them and being there on every dive until they are finally qualified as Open Water Students. Brilliant!!
The last 7 months have been one of very happy memories and an experience I will never forget. I am sure the other Dive Masters that we are all now, will agree.
I have met lots of new friends. Special thanks to Tink (Paul) who I think is a fantastic instructer for teaching me and encouraging me when I thought I would never get through those exams and to Ali for listening being a true friend and supplying us with all the lovely lunches, snacks and as much tea and coffee you wanted.
A lovely touch was when we were in the pub after completing my 1st scuba review with a student was being presented with my Divemaster card and a frame containing my certificate.
Looking forward to loads of Divemastering with Flippin Divers over the coming years.
